Craft Shows 101: Where to Find a Craft Show

Want to start selling your handmade items but not sure how to find a craft show near you? (Click to Tweet!)

When looking for a craft show, you will want to find the right show for you. For example, if you’re selling high-end, higher-priced pieces, you may not do very good at your local high school bazaar. (But if you do, props to you!) You will also want to do some research after finding a show before signing up for it. Let’s start with finding a show though.

There are many options out there for organizers to advertise their upcoming shows. You could start by looking in your local newspaper or watch for signs advertising a show. If you attend a show, you could also ask for the event organizer to send you the information for future shows they have planned.

Local newspaper, signs around town, Facebook, Google, Craigslist, attending a show as a guest, talking to other vendors at a show you’re at – these are so many different ways to find a show.

Upcoming Craft Shows in July 2015

Hey everyone! So, I wanted to put my upcoming show schedule out there for everyone who is local to me. (Michigan - lower peninsula) I don't have many summer shows due to summer's being pretty busy, and I still need to invest in a tent; however, I will post my schedule for the next month in the middle of each month for you all!

So, without further ado, here is my July Show Schedule!

Saturday, July 25, 2015 - 10am-4pm - Au Gres Lioness Annual Arts & Craft Show
North Coast Landscaping Pavilion * 3651 E Huron Rd - U.S. 23, Au Gres, MI 48703

For this show - it is held in conjunction with the Au Gres Cruisers Car Show. I believe there was indoor and outdoor vendors, and my table will be inside.

And as always - if you live close to me,  you can always order & pick-up (or meet me somewhere) or order directly on my Etsy shop!

I hope everyone is enjoying the month of June. And don't forget Father's Day is tomorrow!

Until Next Time,
Alicia

What is YOUR Awesome?

What is your Awesome?

It could really be anything.   When I was thinking about what posts to do on this Blog to get it back up and running,  I questioned it. I thought I really limited myself to just showing awesome products I found online or tried. That's when I consulted with my husband's dear cousin and friend,  Kayla, from Say Not Sweet Anne. (which by the way, she runs an AWESOME blog and I encourage you all to check it out of you're interested in crafting & DIY).   She pretty much told me that Somebody's awesome could really be anything. And how true this is... Not only do we have awesome material objects, but we have awesome people in our lives, awesome talents,  awesome hobbies,  awesome personalities,  and awesome lives in general. So really, Owning Something Awesome really isn't limited to the material possessions we have in our lives.  Although, on the material possessions note, I am pretty psyched that last April I purchased a Windows Surface that I'll use for my business and my Blog. I instantly fell in love, but I am kind of an office geek (office supplies, office software, etc. When I walk into an office supplies store, Im like a kid in a candy shop! )

But back on topic... So I think I will also do a couple posts on different things that could be awesome in your life, what's awesome in mine that you might relate to, and also ease back into Blogging by doing Feature Friday, To Be Loved on Saturday's, and things going on for the business side of Own Something Awesome. I know if I try to do too much at once I will overwhelm myself and burn out again, so I'm going for slow and steady wins the race - just until both my boys are in school.

As always, feel free to leave comments, send me an e-mail, or send a message on the Facebook page if there's something you'd like to see, or if you even just loved the post you just read! I'm really looking forward to this summer being a great one and I thank all of my readers for sticking around!

Until next time,
Alicia

So long 2014, Hello 2015!!

Did everyone have fun bringing the new year in? My night was spent with my 3 favorite guys, a fancy dinner we made at home, and some banana splits. :)

I feel as though even though 2014 may have not been the best year, it definitely wasn't the worst. It was one of those in between years that just go by. But at the same time, in 2014 we laid the foundation and created a staircase for everything we will achieve in 2015. Now we start to climb those steps.

My goals for 2015 are:

To slowly incorporate more healthy options into our food choices.
I feel all at once will just lead us back to the same habits.

To continue to get healthier - mentally and physically.
Mentally - Everyone has bad days, weeks, even months. But even then, when everything is spiraling out of control, you can always find something to smile about. Something to keep you moving forward. It's all in perception and I'm going to continue to look for the beauty in the world.
Physically - well, its come to a point in my life where I actually should make exercise a habit. Even 10 minutes a day is better than nothing until it just becomes routine.

To get the house organized
We have a pretty good thing started in this department now. We just need to keep going and finish getting the rest of the house organized. And really, when everything isn't complete chaos in the house, mental well-being is usually better as well.
To Build My Business Up Further.
Make more items, have more sales, the usual. If I keep building it up every year, when both Elijah & Seth are in school, if I build it up enough before then, I can focus solely on my business, instead of going back to work - whether it be part-time or full-time. (Full-time if I'm making as much as right now, part-time if I'm making more, and none if I'm making a decent income on my own, which is my dream.) In 2014 I did expand my product line to include soy tarts and votive candles. I'll have more on that in a future post.
To take a trip every month with my family.
Even if it's a day trip to the state park, having a picnic and walking the trails, or pumpkin farms, the Santa House, whatever. Just a small trip somewhere works :) (although, I need to get creative for these current cold months). But also, not spend too much, because with the right budgeting, we'll be out of debt by the end of this year or beginning of next year)

To just live every day to the fullest!

We only have the life we are living now.. Why not make the best of it?
